About the Author

Shannon Taylor is an author and illustrator. She graduated from San Jose State University with a major in Graphic Design/Illustration. She resides with her husband and two teenage sons in North Carolina.

Growing up in Santa Cruz County California, she spent her early days playing in an apple orchard along a small creek. Sitting among the weeds, naming fallen trees, digging giant dirt holes, paving roads of mud were some of her favorite pastimes. That’s where she learned to use her imagination. After graduating college, Shannon spent nine years with The Learning Company working on children’s educational software. While there, she worked as an artist, animator, producer and game designer on the Reader Rabbit and ClueFinders brands, among others. She enjoyed creating storylines with her colleagues.

Deciding to be a stay-at-home mom, she has been active in her boys endeavors – volunteering in classrooms, the neighborhood swim team, the boy scout troop, the marching band, and summer music camp. The Covid19 pandemic isolated everyone at home and inspired Shannon to start writing and illustrating children’s books as an example for her boys of how to take the initiative and create something good during something tragic.

Shannon enjoys spending time with family, taking long walks with friends and gardening.
